Creative community conversations
"Let's just say that gathering people together to prepare and share a meal, whilst also sharing cross-cultural stories of love, loss and food, was a wonderful way to connect with others. I wish you could have smelled and tasted the spiced vegetarian stew we made together. Layers and layers and layers of flavour. The herby, savoury topping that we made for the stew was to die for (pardon the pun)."
MORTALITY BITES:
"This residency has allowed us to develop our work and reach as both socially engaged artists and imaginative community death educators. We've used the residency to create a kind of mortal portal in Sunderland where creative conversations about death are normalised and embraced."
Mental health conditions and deathwork
"I assumed I had no right to choose anything to do with my funeral. I didn't feel I deserved any kind of planning, because there's a chance my funeral might come about because of me & that is seen as shameful & selfish. But, of course, my death might not come about because of me. That too is possible."
